hosting thanksgiving

December 3, 2013

This year, I hosted thanksgiving in my very own home.
And it could not have gone better.
My mother-in-law cooked the turkey
and everyone brought the side dishes and desserts.
We had plenty of food, all the traditional dishes were covered
and everything was delicious.

I borrowed my parents huge table
and set a very simple fall table.
A burlap runner with a doily runner overlay,
all my white milk glass, mini pumpkins, and some twigs.

I thrifted the amber colored glasses. Less than a dollar each!

These cinnamon sugar almonds were definitely a hit
and super quick and easy to make.
I think they'll have to make a reappearance for Christmas!

I wanted to do something simple but fun for the kids table
so I covered it in craft paper so they could color while eating.

These adorable twig pencils are from world market and would make the cutest Christmas gift.

I quickly painted a frame and each child's name on the paper with acrylic paint.

I love these mason jar glasses with handles.
I think pottery barn sells them but I found these at dollar general!

After everyone had their fill we took down the giant table
so we could lounge in the living room
and continue on with traditional thanksgiving activities...
football, napping and games. :)

It was such a nice day spent with loved ones
I kind of felt like I would burst with thankfulness.
I know how very blessed I am.

Now I am totally ready for Christmas.
The minute thanksgiving ended my fall decor felt stale
and I was ready to take it down. :)
The tree goes up today! :)
