Can I just brag for a minute?

November 27, 2010

I have really amazing friends.

3 of my closest friends,
Allyson, Lizz & Allison,
have all ventured to Ethiopia to serve LIA,
(Life In Abundance)
an incredible ministry that our church helps to support.
They have all come back with
broken hearts, renewed spirits, & fresh perspectives.

(For a SAMPLING of Allyson's incredible Africa photos click here)

(& her sweet hubby! Someday this will be Jeff & I! :) )

And now my friend emily,
already a mama to 4 babes,
has decided to open her life & her heart to an Ethiopian child
who needs a home and a family.
Emily felt God tugging at her heart, and she responded.
Is it crazy? Yes.
Is it scary? I'm sure.
Is it right? Absolutely.

(the anderson family adoption details post)

So much of this life is about obedience.
When we listen to what God is calling us to do and obey,
life can be so sweet
and will undoubtedly be better than we ever could have imagined.

These 4 friends,
along with the rest of our church's Africa teams,
have been so incredibly inspiring to me.
I feel like I have experienced a small bit of Africa
through their stories, their tears, & their excitement.
And I wanted to do something.
Even if its something small.
Sometimes those are the things that can make the most difference.
And I wanted them to know how much I care.
And most importantly, how much I believe in the power of God.

This onesie is now in my shop.
All proceeds will go directly to the anderson family's adoption fund
to help bring their sweet little Elsa home from Ethiopia.

During this time of thanksgiving,
let us remember all that we have been blessed with
and be even MORE willing to share those blessings with others
in the name of Christ.

Again, my favorite scripture:

"This is how we know what love is:
Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need
but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
Dear children,
let us not love with words or speech
but with actions and in truth."
1 John 3:16-17

Fall & Friends

November 17, 2010

Last fall,
after settling into our new townhouse,
I thought it would be fun to have a few friends over.
It really just ended up being an excellent excuse to
drink good wine, eat good food, & enjoy good conversation
without constantly being interrupted by chillin's.
This fall, those same friends encouraged me to have another party...
And after the hilarious conversations we had that night,
it ended up being an excellent decision.
{my poor dear friend who is about to have her first baby...I am so sorry. ;)}
So it looks like we've started a little tradition.

Here are the invitations from this year...

I used this same concept from my friend Jami's
flower pillow craft
to make paper flowers for the invites.
And then I embroidered some vines for a homemade organic feel.
{I love these even more cause I had everything on hand to make them!}

Some of my fall decor...

As you can see from last year
I finally filled my jars with those pine cones & acorns. :)

I also added this little guy to the mix this year
and love what he adds to my decor. :)

These were the favors this year.
{cause a party HAS to have favors! :) }
Last year I handed out tiny little jars of my mom's amazing
homemade pepper jelly.
This year her and I baked miniature loaves of bread
in vintage {for real vintage emily ;) } bread pans from her mother.

So fun!

Thank you friends for an awesome night! :)
{safe & warm, with no boats, rain, or lighting ;) }

hello, hello

November 13, 2010

Hello, hello, baby, you called? I can't hear a thing
I have got no service, in the club, you see, you see
Wha-wha-what did you say, huh? You're breaking up on me
Sorry, I cannot hear you, I'm kinda busy

K-kinda busy
K-kinda busy...

{enter inappropriate dancing here}

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
That song has been running through my head
ever since I made this gift set. :)

You like?
You want it for FREE?

My friend Jami is giving it away on her blog.
Go check it out & enter to win!

{...and in case you don't win - you can find it here}

Every once in a while...

November 10, 2010

...the lovesick college boy I used to date comes out in my husband.

And I love it. ;)
My hubby was out of town last week
as you can see by the following photo:

He got to go deep-sea fishing,
something he's been wanting to do for awhile now,
and caught 2 sharks!
How sweet is that??

We spent the vast majority of our dating relationship apart
so when we're apart now it reminds me of those times
we spent pining for one another... ;)
So even though I missed him
I think being apart a little bit is good for your relationship.
It makes you remember how much you love and depend on that person.

On another note...
Emma from "It's All About the Fabric"
featured this Sunkissed Cotton shirt on her blog!!
It made my day.
So I thought I'd share. ;)

Hair Love

November 5, 2010

I'm sure most of you have seen all of the
hair accessory deliciousness
cruising around the internet like I have.
Well, I finally decided that I needed some of my own.
And I definitely wanted some for my family pictures coming up...
I used a similar technique to miss emily's necklace for the rosette.
And stuck some peacock feathers in behind it.
It was cheap and surprising easy!
I'm pretty sure I'm going make like a thousand more...
Prepare yourselves. ;)

Happy Friday!!

that time of year

November 4, 2010

If you know me at all then you know my love for the
Louisburg Cider Mill.
I've been going there every fall for as long as I can remember.
This year plans kept falling through so finally
I just decided to load up the boys and head out on our own.
I was determined to not let this season pass me by without a trip there.
We just did the usual.
Apple cider donuts.
Momarazzi picture time.
My name is Adorable.
What's yours?
It took all the will power I could muster but
I even managed to save 2 1/2 donuts for Daddy who was stuck at work.

I don't think Jaymin's lips separated from this bottle until
the Apple Raspberry deliciousness was gone.
I got my 3 sips in before handing the bottle over to him.
I prefer my cider without donut chunks.

I love this one.
"Oh brother, if I could just have one sip, my life would be complete."
{Said with a Bill Cosby Chocolate Cake kind of voice}
And the perfect pumpkin was found.
Our outing was complete. :)

happy camper

November 3, 2010

This phrase isn't entirely true when it comes to my youngest.

Yes, he is super outgoing, flirty, and coy with strangers.
Yes, he does have a crazy sense of humor and
the best little giggle I've ever heard.
Yes, he does have to-die-for big blue eyes and the
goofiest crinkle-nose grin you've ever seen.
(not pictured here)
He can be a hard baby.

The boy wants things HIS way.
And you better deliver on his schedule as well.

But I couldn't resist this shirt...
I mean, maybe it will help him subconsciously or something.
"My shirt says 'happy camper' so maybe I actually am, hmm..."

Want one?
They're now in my shop. :)
